The Choir
The choir is an integral part of the worship at Saint Chad’s. Several singers assist in singing Mattins at 10 o’clock each Sunday morning, and the full choir leads the worship at Mass at 11, and on holy days.
Choral Evensong is sung every Saturday at 4:30pm.

The choir has built up a strong reputation for its expertise in singing plainsong and early music which figure prominently in services at Saint Chad’s. They have recently sung both Mass and Evensong from the first prayer book of 1549 using Merbecke’s original music, and each year sing a Latin Requiem for All Souls. Their repertoire includes music from the Greek Orthodox Church, renaissance polyphony, plainsong from the traditional Roman Rite and motets and communion settings by Anglican composers from the 16th to the 20th centuries.
The choir rehearses in church each Thursday from 7.30 p.m. (enter via the Vestry Door in St. Chad’s Place), and new members will be warmly welcomed.
